Dnipro

Україна

The modern city of Dnipro was founded in 1776 under the name Yekaterinoslav, although people had lived in the surrounding area since ancient times. Its location along the Dnipro River made it an important transportation and trading hub from the very beginning. By the late 18th century, the city had become a key center in the development of southern Ukraine.

During the 19th century, Dnipro expanded rapidly as industry, metallurgy, and railway connections transformed the local economy. New factories and growing trade routes turned the city into one of the largest industrial centers in the region. In 1926, it was renamed Dnipropetrovsk and later became one of the Soviet Union's leading centers for metallurgy and aerospace production.

Following Ukraine's independence, the city continued to modernize and diversify its economy. In 2016, it officially adopted the name Dnipro. Today, it is one of Ukraine's largest cities, known for its scientific institutions, universities, industrial strength, scenic riverside, and dynamic cultural life.
