Potiskum

Potiskum is one of the largest cities in Yobe State, northeastern Nigeria, and has long been recognized as a major commercial center. The town developed along historic trade routes that connected northern Nigeria with neighboring regions, allowing agriculture, livestock trading, and local markets to flourish.

For many years, Potiskum has been famous for its large livestock market, which is among the most important in the country. Merchants from different parts of Nigeria and neighboring nations have visited the city to trade cattle, grains, and agricultural products, strengthening its role in regional commerce.

Today, Potiskum remains one of the leading trading cities in northeastern Nigeria. Its growing population, expanding infrastructure, and vibrant markets continue to support economic development while preserving the traditions that shaped the city's history.
